Palliative (pronounced pal-lee-uh-tiv) care is for patients who may be seeking curative treatment and can benefit from extra assistance and supportive care.

Palliative Home Care is for homebound patients who:

  • Have an illness such as:
    • Cancer
    • Stroke, Parkinson’s disease, dementia, ALS
    • Cardiac/heart disease
    • Lung disease
    • Renal failure
    • Liver disease
  • May be seeking curative treatment
  • Require specialized skills of a nurse or therapist (physical, occupational or speech)

How can Palliative Home Care help? By providing:

  • Skilled nursing visits
  • Social worker services
  • Home health aide visits
  • Therapies as needed for rehabilitation
  • 24-hour RN on call for questions, emergencies or visits.

Palliative Consultations:

Our nurse practitioners conduct palliative consultations in the home, in area nursing facilities or by appointment at Lutheran Hospital. Consultations with patients and their families or caregivers include a review of medical issues and discussion about goals of care.
